Do You Even Trello Bro?

Do you find yourself constantly browsing the internet for things before you go to bed, and then wake up the next day and almost forget what it was you were doing? And then a few months later you pick that same topic back up and do the same research? Maybe that's just me.

I started realizing that jotting down notes, and saving webpages or screenshots on my phone wasn't the best way for me to organize my thoughts and ideas. It was a sloppy mess.

What if I told you there is an easy solution to fix this chaos and it's free?

What is Trello?

Trello is a project management system that you can use as an app on your phone, tablet or even online. I call it my landing spot for all of my thoughts, projects, and tasks. It’s a place where you can take all of your ideas and put them in one spot. I found that clearing my mind and putting these thoughts into their system literally helps me sleep at night.

Let me give you a few examples as to how I use Trello:

I did a lot of researching one night and was looking for a cool vacation spot. Again, this type of research was usually done late night just before bed. After a few days, I had forgotten what I had even researched which turned out to be a complete waste of time.

After finding out about Trello, I figured I would give it a shot. You basically start with an empty page and create "boards" as you go. The first board I created was called “Cool Vacation Spots”. Catchy name huh? Once I clicked inside the board, I was able to create “cards”.

I named the card “South Haven, Michigan”. Within that card, you can attach notes, pictures, web links, and all of your research in one spot. You can even collaborate with any other Trello user and the two of you can work together on the project by adding things to the same board/card.

I also love using it for my home projects. I kept finding myself jotting down notes and estimates for these home projects which usually get lost or thrown away. The following weekend I would get side tracked by looking at Pinterest and end up doing another home project that wasn’t on my to-do list or even budgeted for. Surely I am not the only one who has done that.

Trello allows me to list all of my future home projects, set due dates, and put them in the order in which I plan on doing these. This is a great way to stay on track and most importantly stay within the budget. Once you start breaking things down, you will realize how many little tasks each project has.

Lastly, I use it for work. It's an easy way for me to organize my day/to do list. I can use it to keep track of my blogs/blog ideas. I can create nice checklists for certain tasks that help me make sure I get everything done for a specific thing that day.

Since I don’t always work out of my office, having an online system allows me to access it from anywhere. What I like most about using it for work is collaborating on a project with another teammate. We can message back and forth and work together in one spot as opposed to texting/emailing back and forth. That way after a long weekend, you don't have to dig back through old emails to figure out where you left off. Just hop onto Trello and you will find everything nicely organized in a timeline format.

I know that you're totally mind blown right now...... I know I was when I started utilizing this great system!

If you are looking for something that can help you get organized, I highly recommend signing up for Trello. No, they did not pay me for this review :) I just love using it, and don't know how I ever operated without it!

How do you use Trello? What do you like most about it? Hit me up!
